Administration
The
Board
of
Directors
of
North
America
Trade
Inc
is
responsible
for
the
administration
and
management
of
the
Order,
and
may
appoint
officers
as
advisable
for
the
fullfilment
of
its
duties.
Subject
to
the
requirements
of
the
Statute,
the
Board
may
at
any
time
and
at
its
sole
discretion
proceed
to
the
nomination
of
any
person
to
the
North
America
Order
or
to
the
revocation
of
the
said
nomination.
The
Board
may
enact
special
regulations
respecting
all
matters
in
relation
to
the
North
America
Order,
including
regulations
having
retroactive
legal
application.

Nomination
to
the
North
America
Order
Any
American
or
Canadian
citizen
may
be
nominated
as
a
Commander
or
Knight
of
the
North
America
Order
in
recognition
of
outstanding
contributions
to
the
advancement
of:
-Science
and
Technology
-Economic
Development
-International
Trade
-Public
Policy
Nominations
to
the
North
America
Order
shall
be
made
by
instrument
signed
by
authorized
directors
or
officers
of
North
America
Trade
Inc.
Nomination
to
the
North
America
Order
is
perpetual
and
may
be
made
post-mortem
(North
America
Order
Memorial).
Subject
to
acceptance
by
the
Board
of
Directors,
Commanders
and
Knights
may
transfer
their
title
upon
decease
to
a
successor
named
in
a
Last
Will
and
Testament.

Rights
and
Privileges
of
Commanders
and
Knights
Commanders
and
Knights
of
the
North
America
Order
are
entitled
to
:
(a)
wear
the
official
insignia
of
the
Order.

(b)
place
after
their
name
the
letters
associated
with
their
rank,
namely,
"C-NAO"
in
the
case
of
a
Commander,
and
"K-NAO"
in
the
case
of
a
Knight.
(c)
subject
to
the
Statute
and
to
the
acceptance
of
the
Board
of
Directors,
nominate
of
their
own
authority
other
persons
to
the
North
America
Order
as
follows:
-
in
the
case
of
a
Commander,
authority
to
nominate
2
other
Commanders
and
10
Knights
every
year
-
in
the
case
of
a
Knight
,
authority
to
nominate
5
other
Knights
every
year.
(d)
mention
of
their
title
on
the
North
America
Trade
Directory
-
in
the
case
of
a
Commander,
on
the
upper
part
of
the
Directory,
with
a
photograph
and
the
logo
or
symbol
of
his/her
corporation,
organization
or
agency
-
in
the
case
of
a
Knight,
with
the
logo
or
symbol
of
his/her
corporation,
organization
or
agency.
(e)
to
vote
on
special
matters
or
special
nominations
as
submitted
by
the
Board
of
Directors
from
time
to
time.
IV
-
Resignation
and
Revocation
of
Status
A
nomination
to
the
Order
ceases
when
:
(a)
the
Board
of
Directors
accepts
the
person's
resignation
from
the
Order,
which
resignation
shall
have
been
made
in
writing
and
given
to
the
Board
of
Directors;
or
(b)
the
Board
of
Directors
makes
an
decision
revoking
the
person's
nomination
to
the
Order.
The
decision
of
the
Board
shall
be
based
on
evidence
and
guided
by
the
principle
of
fairness
when
it
appears
that
the
person
has
been
convicted
of
a
criminal
or
other
statutory
offence,
or
has
committed
an
act
or
a
course
of
conduct
being
a
significant
departure
from
generally-recognized
standards
of
honor
that
may
undermine
the
credibility,
integrity
or
relevance
of
the
Order,
or
which
detracts
from
the
original
grounds
upon
which
the
nomination
was
based.
Except
as
otherwise
provided
in
special
regulations,
the
insignia
of
the
Order
shall
remain
the
property
of
the
Order.
Where
a
Commander
or
Knight
resigns
from
the
Order
or
where
his/her
nomination
to
the
Order
is
revoked,
the
person
shall
return
the
insignia
to
the
Board
of
Directors
and
shall
cease
to
use
the
name
of
the
Order
and
any
representation
of
the
insigna.

French
Names
The
name
North
America
Order
may
also
be
used
under
its
French
version:
L'Ordre
d'Amérique
du
Nord.
Likewise,
the
title
of
Commander
may
also
be
used
as
Commandeur,
and
the
title
of
Knight
as
Chevalier.
